Classroom Activities on １０がつ３か

Discuss what makes a good blog in groups of 3-4 people.

At the end of the semester we will have not only teachers but also you and your classmates evaluate each other’s blogs. We will use the results of your discussions today as a basis for deciding the criteria that we will use to evaluate the blogs at the end of the semester.
  1. Discuss what makes a good blog in groups of 3-4 people.
  2. Post the result of your discussion in the comment column of the blog. Make sure to include your names or initials with the posting so we know that you have commented.

    Our ideas of good blogs

    - picture and videos if possible
    - practice what you learn
    - not too long, not too short
    - response back to people who leave comments
    - update often
    - offer new information
    - active participation
    - good layout
    - use as little english as possible

    1. Entertaining
    2. 80% information providing, 20% about yourself
    3. Multimedia
    4. Comprehensible

    Lots of Japanese content.
    Pictures. Presentation.
    Updated frequently.
    Not too spartan.
    Colors!
    Interesting and varied topics.
    Comments.
    Blog posts with coherence.
    Mindful of audience.

    A good blog should be informative, funny, it should have a good mix of multimedia materials. Also to remain accessible to everyone, a balance between Japanese and English should be maintained. Post things that aren't limited to the class.

    1) Variety of content (e.g. videos, pictures, and text)
    2) Creative and plentiful use of Japanese
    3) Use of katakana when appropriate
    4) Frequent updates -- at least twice per month
